    Last fall, Carsten Kessler and I gave a online talk about our EnviroCar project. The talk was entitled “EnviroCar - A GIS Framework for Citizen-based Environmental Monitoring in NYC” and was hosted by the New York State GIS Association. It was the first talk of the Transportation Professional Affiliation Group, which was quite an honor for Carsten and I.   2. What Do We Do With All This Big Data?

    This is an interesting and thought-provoking TED Talk by Susan Etlinger about how important it is to encourage ‘critical thinking’ when it comes to Big Data. Here, the idea is not let the ‘data speak for themselves’ but rather tell an engaging and intelligent story ‘with data’. Basically, we need to move beyond counting things in order to really understand anything.
